Going through my work from the past year had me undoubtedly reminiscing on some of my favorite sessions and portraits. No doubt that capturing portraits for women has been something that really sings to my soul.

I believe it’s a beautiful thing when you can capture the many sides of a woman and show how vast and unique all of her layers are. The layers of a women tell an incredible story; stories that are so deep and all their own but still carry a sense of community. Stories of strength, of wisdom, of intuition, of vulnerability, of softness and toughness, of courage, of unlearning and relearning, of care… so many incredible layers... I could go on but instead, here is a roundup of some of my favorite images of women thus far.

I’ve been hoping to create these portraits since the beginning of the new year so when my lovely friend, Tiffany, came to visit me in Denver, I jumped on the chance to co-create these soft, feminine photos with her. Tiffany is one of those souls that’s open to any creative ideas and absolutely loves natural light. So to combine a neutral background with the sunshine streaming in and adding in soft, white florals and hazy overlay, it was a product of all these elements that had been swirling in mind. I hope the photos provoke something in you. Maybe it’s embracing intuition, creation and sensuality with that beautiful feminine energy… or maybe it’s something all it’s own yet wonderful. Creating photos that stir something in the soul is all I can hope for.

sarah + denver neighborhood portraits

My beautiful friend, Sarah, and I spent a weekend afternoon walking through her Denver neighborhood in the Highlands. I’m so lucky to call this lady a friend. When I moved to Colorado and started my portrait photography business out of Denver, Sarah was someone I knew from the midwest and she immediately welcomed me to the Rockies with open arms. Since then we’ve created so many memories adventuring around this great state and beyond; along with building a solid sisterhood between us. Sarah has always welcomed my constant photo taking with open arms and embraced any creative direction that I’ve given her (she’s found herself in front of my lens more times than she probably prefers). On this sunny Sunday, we worked with the direct sunlight, Highland brick walls and my new kaleidoscope filter to create some minimalist, woman centered portraits.

molly + minimal motion portraits

Meet Molly… inquisitive, brilliant, gorgeous and bold. I’ve gotten to know her over the past few years when I moved to Denver and immersed myself in the Colorado wedding photography scene along with Colorado women’s portraits. She obliged to spend a Sunday afternoon with me while I experimented with a color backdrop, motion and keeping photos simple and honest. I owe Molly all the things for being my Sunday muse and embracing something new.

talia + wash park morning light portraits

Talia is such a beautiful light + creative soul. Tying in morning light to her cozy portrait session in my Wash Park apartment seemed to ring pretty true to her beautiful self. I can’t thank her enough for her warmness and openness to the creative flow we embraced. Our focus was to keep these portraits minimal, airy, neutral toned and dreamy. To the brilliant light in us all.
